New partnership for men’s health in Bellville

The Bellville Men’s Clinic is one of several around the metropole, geared towards the health needs of men, and now its operations are being reinvigorated, thanks to a partnership between City Health and the Anova Health Institute. Read more below:
The Bellville Men's Clinic is situated near the Public Transport Interchange, for easy access.
It was established as a satellite site several years ago to provide a dedicated space for men's healthcare needs.
Similar City-run facilities are in operation in Site B and Site C in Khayelitsha, and in Gugulethu.
Until now, Bellville has only operated once a week, but the partnership between the City and the Anova Health Institute will see operations extended to twice weekly, Thursdays and Fridays, between 08:00 and 15:00.The services will include, but not be limited, to HIV Testing; screening for Sexually Transmitted Infections; Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision (VMMC) referrals and erectile dysfunction.
'Men face unique health challenges that require awareness, proactive action, and open conversations. The Health4Men programme supported by Anova Health Institute offers a valuable space for men to access healthcare and openly discuss their concerns in a safe environment,' said Institute spokesperson, Lebogang Makokoana.
This launch is in partnership with City Health, Anova Health Institute, Keready & Right to Care.'This initiative is but the latest in a long line of valuable partnerships for City Health, and we are looking forward to reaping the benefits, which is improved access and care for men. For a long time, the statistics have shown men lagging behind in screening, testing and accessing treatment across a range of diseases. By having these spaces, we hope to unlock opportunities for them to get the much-needed access, and where needed, treatment, to help them live long and healthy lives,' said Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia Van der Ross.
